I have a hard time with the "gift from the baby" concept, b/c I just think it's weird to tell a kid that the "baby" (who we are also talking about being helpless) got something. I realize it's picky of me but I just feel weird about it.
Last time I did it sort-of awkwardly, and DD was almost 2 and really too young to care at all. This time I'm just bringing something small and saying it's a special "big sister" gift. I'll bring something for DS, too, but really he's too young to care this time. What WAS nice was having a distraction/something special to do in the hospital. I also asked my mom to bring a small gift for the bigger kids.
It's good to have something that they can play with while in the hospital sitting around while the grown-ups are talking. I'm thinking markers and a coloring book for DS and a Melissa & Doug magnet doll and maybe sticker book for DD.?
