As the New Year approaches, many of us will begin to reflect on the past year and more importantly, will begin thinking about our goals and aspirations for the upcoming year.? While many people choose to make New Year?s resolutions based around fitness, bad habits, lifestyle, etc, as a student, maybe it?s time to consider committing to a few New Year?s resolutions that will benefit you in school!
1. Work Ahead
Perhaps you are like many students who leave work to the last minute, do the bare minimum or even worse, turn assignments in late!? If you commit to working ahead in your courses, it will benefit you in many ways.? It will reduce stress if you have your assignments done ahead of time, will give you time to revise or revisit assignments with fresh eyes to ensure you?ve given 100% and of course, your instructors will notice and appreciate your added efforts.
2. Utilize Your Resources
As a student at American Career Institute, there may be some resources that you aren?t utilizing to your full ability.? The Career Services department offers several services you may not be aware of.? Stop by regularly to take practice quizzes or get help with resume writing, learn job search techniques, interviewing skills and more!? They are there to help you in any way they can and will help prepare you to land a job after graduation. Take full advantage of this added benefit!
3. Start Thinking About Your Future Career Options
It?s never too early to begin planning for your career.? If you are in school, you?ve taken the first step toward your dream job, but there?s more that you can be doing.? For example, start networking now; set up a LinkedIn profile and begin following companies you would like to work for in the future.? Think about volunteering or look for an internship in your field of study for a resume booster and valuable real-world experience.? Get the word out to everyone that you are bettering your life by pursuing an education and will soon be in the market for a new job.? These days, many employers hire based on personal connections, and you never know who may recommend you for a job!
We here at American Career Institute want to wish everyone a very happy New Year! For more information about any of our career training programs, contact us today!
