LSC offers new online web and computer programming degree ...

Beginning in fall 2012, Lake Superior College students can now earn a Computer and Web Programming AAS degree completely online. The new LSC degree program is designed to provide students with skills for website development and computer programming.

?New technologies and uses for computers are created daily, and they are implemented by people skilled in the technology field,? said Anup Parajuli, LSC computer careers instructor. ?That translates into a wide range of career possibilities for our web and computer programming students.?

This online degree program will prepare students for entry-level positions using web development and business-related programming skills. Students will learn to design, develop, test, document and implement web-based programs and business applications.

Students will also learn the basics of HTML, CSS, XML, PHP, JavaScript and ASP.NET. Programming languages taught include VB.NET, C++. NET, and JAVA. Students will use various software such as Adobe Dreamweaver and Photoshop, Microsoft Access, SQL Server, Visual Studio, andMySQL. Students also will take courses in E-Commerce, Mobile Apps programming, database management, and work on various real-world projects and internship.

Started in 1998, the Lake Superior College eCampus offers the most comprehensive and experienced online resources in the region. An award-winning mentor program supports new online students. More than 135courses are available online as well as a variety of associate degrees, diplomas and certificates. Offerings include accounting, web and computer programing and an associate of arts degree.
